You never realize how much you love something until it’s gone… this week I realized how much I love and need sunshine because it has been cloudy and rainy ALL WEEK. Except for today! The sun is shining and it feels way good!
Okay so let’s get right into it! This week was filled with service, food, trainings, lessons, water and more water.
I have never eaten out so many times on my mission than this last week. The Zone Leaders ask us if we want to eat out with them at least once a day. So we had breakfast with them one morning and then we had lunch with them another day and have been to Braums multiple times in the last few weeks. The favorite place we’ve been to however is a place called Trovato Street which sells truffles, taffies and (our favorite) root beer! There is an actual bar in the back where you can choose from a selection of over 50 different brands and flavors. You pick one, they crack open a cold bottle, you can choose to have it in a float and they just put it on your tab. We always go with a bunch of missionaries and it is hilarious. That kind of place would be popping in Utah.
We helped move a game store that some members own and I jacked up my wrist a bit while readjusting one of the tables I was carrying. It slipped and scraped down my forearm, luckily I caught it, but I lost 2 friendship bracelets in the process… They just broke right off. It was so weird.
We gained a new companion in the apartment. Her name is Sister Christensen and I served with her in my first few transfers of the mish. She is a powerhouse.
FUNNY STORY: Okay so we are in District Council, right? And we are just starting the meeting and our District Leader is up at the front and he is explaining how the meeting is gonna go… he goes through the program and says- “And then we will have a training by the STLs” (that’s us) and boy, did our heads pop up fast. We stared at the board and then at each other. We did NOT have any training prepared. So we winged it! And it went pretty darn good! And no one had any idea we hadn’t prepared it beforehand… ha ha😅😅 Yeah… that’s a lie
We started teaching a new guy this week and he seems very very promising! Hopefully we will get him on date real soon! But it feels good to be teaching someone consistently again!👍
Lately, Gilbert and I have been talking about how we need to be drinking more water, so last pday we bought gallon water jugs and we have been trying to drink one gallon a day. Y’all. I have never peed so much before in my entire life! We had a ZLC meeting and in a matter of 90 minutes, I had to excuse myself to go to the bathroom 3 TIMES. And we are continuing to drink a gallon a day… I’ve never hated water and going to the bathroom so much. Also the deal is that you have to “wear” whatever you can’t finish by the end of the day and well… that happened once this week.
Which got me thinking… The last few days of drinking my water jug, I have been very bad at drinking it during the day and then I end up being in trouble at 8pm when I need to chug a half gallon of water. Then I just feel sick and it doesn’t do much to benefit me like it would’ve if I had been drinking it regularly throughout the day. I apply this to the two celestial habits of prayer and scripture study! We need to be doing those to things regularly for it to really make a difference in our lives. Taking a 3 week break from scriptures and praying and then saying an hour prayer and reading the scriptures for half the day will not bring the blessings that come from consistent, diligent and sincere daily practice of those two things. I would encourage yall to do what you can to improve these things in your life and I know it will bless you! It’s blessed me more than I can say!
Have a great week everyone!
