What a week! Folks, it’s been a good one!
We started the week off with a great p-day and I taught some of the Elders how to do some ballet lifts😂😂 It was quite beautiful really. We also are starting to do Come Follow Me on Mondays right after p-day so that has been really nice.
Tuesday we had Zone Conference and Denton Zone was there! I got to see all my OG homies. Too many good friends to name them all, but man it was good to see them. Zone conference was also a super good spiritual reset for me. There were some awesome messages that have given me some new motivation.
Wednesday was pretty normal for the most part. We had district council and a dinner appointment at a members home. Which was amazingggggg! Guys, I don’t think you realize how great members are… they’re incredible. Anyway, afterwards the Zone met at a church building and watched the last Missionary devotional by Elder Cook and we kinda turned it into a movie night. We brought the couches and comfy chairs into the gym and made popcorn and had blankets. Hahaha and someone brought root beer and dry ice so that was a party to say the least😂🙌
Thursday we had a facebook blitz with some missionaries from the tech zone and it was actually super bomb. It was more of a training honestly, but at the end, we had to come up with our own video and post it. We came up with the idea to make a video to advertise our carwash that happened on Saturday. So we eventually came up with the plan to drench one of our Sister Missionaries in soapy water as she stood in front of a car, explaining the event. It was hilarious and actually turned out pretty darn good lol.
Friday was pretty amazing because we had a lesson! It was with a girl I had reached out to online a while back who had shown some interest. She is from Massachusetts and one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met online! We taught her the first lesson and answered a question she had asked us about a few days prior and then she asked us a ton of questions and it was so amazing. We challenged her to read the intro of the Book of Mormon and to pray to know if what we taught her is true! She said she would and we plan to meet with her again soon. Man that feels good.
Saturday was the partay day of the week!! We left our apartment at 9am sharp and headed to the church for our CARWASH!! We set everything up and had 2 different stations, each with a power washer, several buckets with soapy sponges and brushes, a leaf blower and several towels. When I tell you we had around 50-60 cars roll through in a matter of 3 hours… I’m not messing with you. We were busy! It was some of the most fun I’ve had on the mission so far. And we made those cars look good! And most of us got soaked of course which was half the fun!😁 The weather was also stellar and one of our members stopped by and gave us donuts!! And another random guy who rolled up in a PORSCHE convertible tried to pay us 60 bucks but we couldn’t accept it so then he said he was buying us pizza and gave us the money. So we ended up buying like 8 pizzas from Little Ceasers hahaha😂
After the carwash, we went and helped a lady get her house ready to sell. We did a lot of painting and it was fun. Then we went to dinner at a members house (the same member who brought us donuts!) And that was a party because it was the dad’s birthday! He made us one of his favorite foods from Uruguay, where he’s from. It’s called “cabra pequeña”, which means “little goat”. Funny though, it doesn’t actually have goat in it. They were like these sandwiches with this really good meat and stuff and it was way good.
Sunday was a very relaxing day. We got ready for the day and made waffles for breakfast. I made some banana chocolate chip muffins for some Elders and we dropped them off. And we actually didn’t have sacrament meeting that day so while we were at the Elders’ apartment, they gave us the sacrament which was really amazing. Later that day, we listened to Rob Gardner’s “Lamb of God” and did a puzzle😊
I love love LOVE the Lamb of God. It is some of the most moving and beautiful music I’ve ever heard. My favorite part always remains the same. At the end, after Jesus Christ has been resurrected, He walks along the shore as His disciples finish up an unsuccessful fishing trip. Jesus tells them to cast the net again and the amount of fish in the net is too plentiful for them to pull into the boat! In this moment, it hits John. John knows who it is. “It is the Lord!” he says, and then what Peter does next is what makes me cry every time. Immediately, after he has heard this news, he jumps into the water to swim to the Savior. I mean, I’m sure they were going to take the boat back to shore… why didn’t he just wait? He didn’t have to jump out. If he had just been a little more patient… I’m here to tell you that while patience is an admirable and Christlike virtue, in regards to coming unto the Savior, we must NEVER wait to do so!!! Patience should never be needed to await the welcome of the Savior into your every day life. HE SHOULD ALREADY BE THERE. Let’s all look towards the stellar example of our friend, Peter. To him, NOTHING was going to stand in his way! We should be the same.
It makes me wonder what it will be like when He comes again. Or rather, what I will be like. Am I going to wait until I just so happen to be in the same place He is? You already know that’s not how its gonna be! In that moment, when He comes again, I will follow Peter’s example and NOTHING will stand in my way!! I will run to the Master from wherever in the world I am and I will fall at His feet. What a glorious day that will be❤
Even now, in the time before He is here in person, we must do as Peter did. DO NOT WAIT TO TURN TO THE SAVIOR. There will be barriers or obstacles, heck Peter had to jump in the water and swim! It’s not gonna be a wonderland you can frolick through on your way there. Its gonna be difficult and treacherous, but it’s supposed to be. And the journey will be all the more worth it when we get there. “Salvation is not a cheap experience!”
Today’s email was kinda long, so sorry about that. But I appreciate you if you got this far lol. God bless y’all and I hope you have a great week!
