Howdy ya’ll!!
Do I sound like a Texan yet? I am working on it.. I’m so sorry if I just offended anyone.
It is so funny how this week has gone. Some interesting things and some cool changes!
Most of our success from this last week was actually with teaching people who do not live in this country! The beautiful thing about quarantine is that it has made it possible for missionaries from anywhere to teach anyone. This has been an incredible blessing that I actually didn’t even think would affect me until this last week!
We taught two people from around the world, one lovely young woman from Serbia and a nice gentleman from Nigeria. The young woman in Serbia is actually a family friend who both me and my companion felt inspired to reach out to. We had a wonderful lesson and it was such an amazing opportunity to be able to share with her what I know to be true. We look forward to teaching her more in the future!
The second guy is more a funny story hahaha. He reached out to me over facebook messenger and we quickly started up a conversation about my faith. He seemed very interested in what I had to share. To be honest, I was a little hesitant because before my mission, I was not a huge fan of chatting with strangers online, but now it’s kinda encouraged hahaha. After we got to talking for a bit, I asked him what it would mean to him if the full, true gospel and church of Jesus Christ was on the earth today. He told me he wished it could be true. So I felt prompted to lay it all out to him and just be bold and blunt.
I told him- “I want to be bold with you. The church that I represent, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, IS the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. It contains the fullness of His gospel. It has made me into the person I am today and it has brought me closer to Jesus Christ. As a missionary, I share the message of His Gospel, and if you would like, I would be very happy to share it with you. I know it is true.”
To be entirely honest, I expected him to be like “Nah fammmm” and block me. But he was just like, “teach me”. It was incredible. Basically, we taught him the first lesson and I asked him if he would read the Book of Mormon and he was like of course! And then he said he wanted to be a member of the church.. so that escalated quickly! Now we just gotta find some missionaries in his area to keep teaching him. Exciting stuff!
I have a testimony of being bold! Every person to live will hear the truth at some point, for some it will be in n the afterlife. It comes down to what is truth. Some missionaries are afraid of offending people and that’s a real thing, but I mean, what’s true is true. You shouldn’t apologize, feel ashamed or embarrassed for sharing the truth. How they take it and whatever they choose is up to them. All we can do is invite them to take part in it.
We had another opportunity to serve at the local farm and I didn’t die this time! I made sure I was hydrated and it was actually very enjoyable. We went with several other Elders who are, honestly, our best friends. Gotta love em. They also had a peacock at the farm and we were totally communicating! And now I am working on my peacock call. I’m getting pretty good at it if we are being honest.
We went to church this week! How crazy is that?? I can’t believe things are finally starting to go back to normal! There were only like 20 people there but it was kinda fun to sit in a pew again. It’s been awhile.
I don’t have much this week besides that.. it is just exciting to see things start to go back to normal. We are getting a ton new missionaries which is kinda interesting… there will be about 30 missionaries in every stake. Ummmm crazy.
I hope y’all have a great week! See ya in a few!
