Well hello again friends and family! Happy happy Monday and Happy Father’s day to all you awesome dads out there!!
We started the week with another lesson with the girl from Serbia and it was an amazing lesson. We invited her and her boyfriend, who is a member, to pray and so they did and apparently she had a super amazing spiritual experience. She said she felt like she was being hugged and all anger seemed to wash away. That was such an amazing experience to hear about. It was a testimony builder for me of the power of prayer, the reality of the atonement and how much God loves us.
On Wednesday we had movie night with the Sisters and we got to know each other and build friendships with them. That was fun. We watched “I Can Only Imagine”, 10 out of 10 would recommend!
I learned how fun it is to harvest potatoes! We went to Shiloh farms again and spent the whole day in the potato fields! So you pull out the plant and there are usually a few potatoes connected to the roots and then you have to go digging! You can usually find about 4 or 5 more potatoes in the dirt where the plant used to be. It is like Christmas in June! So fun! I got so much dirt underneath my nails! Only downside.. fire ants.. But it was awesome!
A really cool experience that happened this week was when I was asked to give a training. At first, I was frustrated and nervous because I was asked the day before in the evening so I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare. But I was able to put something together and it went amazingly well. I taught about being unified with your companion. We did a role play while blindfolded to practice listening to your companion and following the spirit. It was really awesome and I bore my testimony at the end and the spirit was so strong.
I shared a section from the Ricciardi letter about companions that get along and companions that don’t. There are 2 reasons companions get along. First reason is they do all the right things together. Both are motivated and ready to get to work, together. The second reason is when they break the rules and don’t care, together. Companions don’t get along usually when one companion cares and the other doesn’t. I encouraged the other missionaries, if they are not getting along with their companion, to do a personal assessment to find which missionary they are. The one who cares or the one who doesn’t care enough. I think there is a good life lesson in that.
I’m grateful for the many companions I have had and the lessons I have learned from them. I have a testimony that God loves effort. When both my companion and I lose ourselves in the work, the blessings and miracles become so apparent. We cant expect things to come if we aren’t willing to work for them, especially in missionary work. Obedience brings blessings but exact obedience brings miracles. And as we are obedient, we are unified and when we are unified, we teach with the spirit. That is all that matters. I don’t care how great a teacher you think you are, if you aren’t teaching with the spirit, you will get absolutely no where. The spirit is the one who teaches.
Thank you all for all you do for me! Please let me know if I can do anything for any of you or anyone you know! Have a great week!
