Howdy yall!
Ya’ll I am wiped from this last week. We had 17 hours of service this week that killed me, but boy was it fun! It is also starting to get nice and warm here. This week we went fishing again and it was 99 degrees out but it felt like 111. Man, what a party. But it is actually quite the blessing because the heat has actually been bearable for me. And I love the cold weather, so it is quite the miracle. Don’t get me wrong, it is hecka hot, but I seem to always think it isn’t as bad as everyone else. Kinda crazy.
I got a new companion this week and she is my foster baby!! It’s my new companion and she is so awesome! So let me explain hahaha. When a new missionary comes out to the field, they are sometimes referred to as “greenies” or their trainer’s “baby”. So because my new companion isn’t completely new, just new to this mission, we call her my foster child! So fun! I’m a mom!❤😂 We are already great friends and we click really well. It was hard way hard to say goodbye to my companion, but we actually had an extra day together we didn’t think we were gonna have. We picked up her greenie on Tuesday and were in a little trio for a day. Super fun! But then I got my new comp. and it has been awesome.
The first day we had together, we were coming home from service and it was dark and while I was driving, I saw some little lights in the road and they ended up being eyes…. I definitely did not have enough time to swerve and I hit a huge possum. That thing was bigger than a cat, my dudes… and I hit it with both tires.. My poor companion. She was traumatized. But it was really funny too, not gonna lie. That is the first time I have ever killed something with my car. Yikers.
One morning this week, I tried to make some peanut brittle and almost burned the apartment to the ground. I guess microwaving sugar and syrup for over 6 minutes isn’t a great idea. But to be fair, one time my previous companion put tin foil in the microwave so…. (Sorry Swinny) Too good hahaha. The best part about the whole peanut brittle incident is that that morning, after I had destroyed my peanut brittle, we got a text from the lady we got the recipe from inviting us over to her house to learn how to make it. Like, WHAT ARE THE ODDS?? Though, maybe she smelled the smoke from down the street and just knew! haha.
We have a baptism coming up in under two weeks! We had a lesson with him on Sunday and it went so well. We introduced tithing to him and to be honest, I was really nervous that would be hard for him. He has a young family he is providing for and if your faith isn’t strong enough, it can be really tough to give 10% of your income. But he was amazing and accepted it right away. It was a reminder for me that even if we gave everything we owned to the Savior and to building His Kingdom, we would still be in debt to everything He has given us. He has given me the only way to live for the rest of eternity with my family and in the presence on my Father in Heaven. Giving 10% of our income is the least we can do. And the blessings we receive from keeping this commandment are immeasurable. I have a testimony of that.
But anyway, I’m probably gonna wrap up this email. I love y’all, have a great week!
